How do I become a member of Family of Christ?

So you've been with us for a while, and you're considering becoming a member. What does that even mean? Well, to put it simply, it means that you are putting down roots and choosing to plug into our community by serving, giving, supporting, and participating in life together. You are choosing us, and we are choosing and welcoming you!

Whether you are a lifelong church-goer, new to knowing and loving Jesus, or you just want to know more about "who we are," you are invited to join us in a few "next steps" in order to discover more! Here's where to go from here...

Be on the lookout for the next available session of classes! Dates are announced during our worship services and in our monthly newsletter.

New Member Welcome

We're delighted to welcome these new families to Family of Christ!

John & Ann Colby

John and Ann moved to Monument 4 years ago this August from central WI with three of their four children. Ashley and Huck attend college here in CO, and Riley goes to Palmer Ridge High School. The oldest, Maarten lives in Milwaukee, WI. John and Ann work in the healthcare field. They have two dogs: LuLu and London. As a family they enjoy hiking, skiing, and the beautiful scenery of CO.

Lark Frank

Ron Henderson

Ron is one of four born in Maryland. He moved to Arizona after 2 years where two of his sisters were born. He attended Arizona schools in Prescott. After school, Ron was drafted into the army and spent a year serving in Vietnam. He went to work for ADOT following a summer of miscellaneous jobs and loved working as a location surveyor; photogrammetry and mapping could not be beat along with geodesy. Ron retired after 34 years. Then he asked to return and worked there for 10 more years.

In the middle of all that, Ron was married and had two children. His son and granddaughter still live in Arizona. He moved to Colorado to be near he daughter, Amber Jack and his awesome son-in-law, Justin and their two children. Amber invited Ron to Family of Christ, and he has been coming since November 2018. He enjoys the congregation and is excited to join as a member!

Darel and Kay Kyle are transferring from Hope Lutheran Church, Shawnee, Kansas. They are happy to have retired last year to Monument, Colorado. They each grew up in Kansas and have been married for 43 years. Darel had a CPA firm in Shawnee Mission, Kansas for 33 years. Kay was the company administrator and is also a registered dietitian. Their daughter, her husband, and their 1 1/2 year-old son live in Littleton, Colorado. Their son and his wife live in Omaha, Nebraska.

Charles & Kathy Latzke

Charles (Chuck) Latzke grew-up in southeastern Wisconsin where he attended a Lutheran grade school and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. He also graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration/Accounting. In 1976, he was awarded a Master of Science degree from the University of Arkansas. In 1971, he was commissioned as an Air Force 2 Lt and held a number of audit and comptroller/financial manager positions during his career. He retired as an AF Colonel in 1995; afterward he worked as a Certified Public Accountant.

Kathy was raised in Oklahoma City, OK, where she attended a local Baptist Church and was baptized in August, 1967. She graduated from Mary Washington University and the University of Hawaii, where she received a Master’s degree in clinical social work. In 2013, she retired as an Air Force civilian after serving as a treatment manager in mental health/family advocacy and director of family programs.

Chuck and Kathy were married in 1980 and have two children, Kathryn and Timothy. Today they stay busy enjoying their two granddaughters, Brook and Paige Walulik.

 Al & Sandy Maurer

Al grew up in Wisconsin, graduated from the Air Force Academy and married Sandy just two days later. After 22 years on active duty, they moved back to Colorado in 1995. He just retired from Microsoft this spring. He’s enjoying being free to pursue his interests — including reading, writing, woodworking, hunting, sausage-making, and whatever else Sandy tells him to do.

Sandy is a real Colorado native. She has been fortunate enough to live in three different countries, and has traveled to many more. As an Air Force wife for 22 years, she has had so many wonderful experiences. She truly loved being a part of that community. Travel, entertaining, gardening, and many other artistic outlets are very much what makes Sandy who she is. They have a son, and grandson who live in Munich.

Andrew & Suzanna McNabb

Andy and Suzy McNabb both retired from the Air Force two years ago; and left the Cocoa Beach, FL area to settle in Colorado Springs to be near family, friends, mountains, and four seasons. Andy works from home as a consultant. Suzy has homeschooled for the past two years and is now job hunting (looking for nuclear engineer/project manager/tech director roles — if anyone has any leads.) They have three children: Katherine -15, Aiden -14, and James - 9, and three pets. Andy is also guardian for his sister, Kerry, who lives at Jackson Creek Senior Living. Family hobbies include traveling, hiking, along with watching Star Wars and Marvel movies.

Harry & Wanda Moore

Harold (Harry) and Wanda Moore are excited to be joining the FOC family! Harry and Wanda are both from Ruthven, Iowa, and moved to the Monument area 5 years ago after retirement.

Harry retired from the United States Army as a Medevac Helicopter Pilot and Hospital Administrator and also as a Junior ROTC teacher from the Omaha Public School System. Wanda retired from Federal Civil Service as a Criminal Paralegal for the United States Attorney for the District of Nebraska. Harry now volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and DAV. Wanda volunteers for the Ronald McDonald House and is a fill-in babysitter for their grandsons. They have one daughter, Kristin, who lives in Colorado Springs with her husband, Drew, and their two boys, Lucas and Blake.

Cheryl Rhodes

Michael & Amy Schaub
The Schaub family has been attending Family of Christ since 2007 when their oldest child began pre school at the CDC. Mike is a retired Air Force Colonel who now works for El Paso County Department of Emergency Management. Amy holds a degree in Sociology and focuses her time teaching dance and raising their children: Jared - 14, a Freshman at DCC and Samantha - 9, a 4th grader at School in the Woods. Family of Christ has been such an important part of their lives; they feel blessed to finally be making their membership “official.”

Tanner & Kathryn Walulik
Tanner and Kathryn both grew up in military families and have lived in many different states; however, they consider Colorado to be their home. Kathryn and Tanner were both baptized as infants and Kathryn grew up in the Lutheran faith. Currently, Tanner works as management for Dish Network. Kathryn works as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. They have been married for 6 years and have two daughters, Brooke and Paige.
