Student Ministry - Mission Trips
2019 summer Mission Trips
Trip #1 - Level 3 (Student Trip Leaders)
International Trip - Siguatepeque, Honduras
Mission Organization: LeaderTreks
Dates: Two Weeks: Sunday, June 30 – Saturday, July 13
Eligible Students: All current 9th-12th Grade Students
# of Spots Available: 17 Students & 3 Adults
Trip Description: We’re going back to Siquatepeque, (Say - gooahdapeck-ah) Honduras! We had such an incredible time in 2017, we felt led to join with La Providencia again! The devastation that Hurricane Mitch brought in 1998 made Honduras one of the poorest countries in this hemisphere. This catastrophe moved LeaderTreks ministry partner, La Providencia, to begin immediate efforts to help those affected by the hurricane. Our missionary partners rediscovered a vision and love for the orphaned children of Honduras. Since the ministry’s inception in 2000, the vision has been expanded to try to meet needs of orphans, widows and the poor around the world based on the Bible’s admonitions in James 1:27 and Galatians 2:10.
Trip #2 - Level 2 (Student VBS Leaders)
Domestic Trip - Atlanta, Georgia
Mission Organization: LeaderTreks
Dates: 1 Week: Sunday, July 14 – Saturday, July 20
Eligible Students: All current 8th-12th Grade Students
# of Spots Available: 14 Students & 3 Adults
Trip Description: The Atlanta metropolitan area in Georgia is home to almost 6 million people, making it the ninth largest city in the United States! The city saw rapid development in preparation for the Olympic Games in 1996, spurring manufacturing job growth across the area. While this helped develop large sections of the city, Atlanta is still home to poverty and underserved neighborhoods. Your team, alongside our missionary partners in the community of Decatur, will be reaching out to the local neighborhood through home repair projects and afternoon relational ministry.
Students must be 16 to work. Workers Sign up for Shifts on their own (parents are allowed to work shifts also!) When working the concession stands during hockey and other events, each worker receives approximately $49.00 per shift worked. This is a GREAT opportunity! Contact Jeremy if you're interested or would like more information! If interest is too low, we will NOT have this opportunity in the future.
