Family of Christ Lutheran Church began as a mission congregation in 1993, and is a part of the 2.5 million member Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. We had fairly humble beginnings -- the first worship service for our church was held in the living room of one of our church member's homes. From there we progressed to meeting in the cafeteria of the local public school. Finally, in 1998, we had grown to the point where we could buy 10 acres of land and construct our own church building. From the very beginning, the intent was to build a church that would serve as a sort of "community center" for the Monument area. The more people we could interact with, the better the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ. What a joy to see that dream become a reality. Our campus is constantly teeming with activity. During the week, we have over 200 pre-school through kindergartners in our Child Development Center. We host major community events each year like our Classical Christmas Concert and Vacation Bible School. There are multiple opportunities to be involved in Bible Studies, small groups, music, etc. No matter when you stop by, there's a good chance there will be something going on.
People often comment that it's easy to fit in here at Family of Christ. Most everyone here is new, which makes it easy for new people to find a place. While we are a Lutheran church, we have a great deal of diversity in our congregation, with people from all types of faith backgrounds represented. Our goal is to welcome people no matter where they are at in their faith journey; then grow together in faith as we spend time in worship and Bible Study.
Family of Christ currently has about 350 people in attendance on a typical Sunday morning, which makes us small enough to still feel like family, yet large enough to offer a good variety of ministries and opportunities. Sitting in the shadows of Pike's Peak, we are reminded every day of the power and majesty of our Lord. God has truly blessed our congregation in recent days with wonderful people and tremendous growth. If you are ever in the area, please join us for worship on Sunday morning. We are a young, vibrant, growing congregation that exists simply to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and all that he has done for us. Come see what we're all about.
